Spring Break with Fisher Guiding

Ah, Spring Break: sandy beaches, warm waters, sunburn. A time between the beginning of March and the end of April when families, friends, or solo travelers flock to escape the normalcy of home during a couple of the bleakest months of the year. Here at Fisher Guiding, we’re all about the Spring Break escape, but with the addition of a fishing rod in hand!

Planning to get away for a few days to do some fishing? We’ve rounded up some of our favorite Spring Break locales to help you choose what best suits your fishing needs.

The Bahamas are a classic Spring Break destination and we have over 20 partners for you to choose from! If you are in the Nassau area, check out fly fishing legend Simon “Bonefish” Bain or one of the numerous options from Born Free Fishing Charters. If a lodge experience is more of what you’re looking for, head on over to Two Boys Inn or Captain Neymour’s Guest House, both on Andros Island, home of the largest bonefish habitat in the world.

Southeast of the Bahamas, you’ll find the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Experience some of the best billfishing in the world with Big Marlin ChartersTease Me Charters, and others based out of Punta Cana. Over in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Caribbean Fishing Adventures can put you onto billfish offshore or take you to backcountry fishing for tarpon, snook, and more.

It’s actually the tail end of summer/early fall in Argentina, which means prime trout fishing in Patagonia! Rio Manso Lodge and Estancia Arroyo Verde will give you an experience of a lifetime, and the guides at Jurassic Lake Lodge will put you onto the largest rainbow trout you’ve ever experienced. Over on the eastern side of the country, try your hand at catching the elusive golden dorado with Golden Fly Fishing & Lodge or Dorado Cua Lodge.

Over in Mexico, Fisher Guiding has partners offering options ranging from catching juvenile tarpon on the fly with Fly Fishing Tabasco to roosterfish with Go Deep Sportfishing Adventures in Baja. If fishing crystal clear flats are more your speed, check out The Flats at Tierra Maya or Grand Slam Fishing Lodge. And perhaps the most “Spring Break” destination of all, Cancun houses Don Chingon Charters and Cancun Light Tackle & Fly Fishing for all of your family fishing needs.

The fishing capital of the world is claimed to be the state of Florida, where we have charter and guide partners up and down both the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts! In the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area, there’s HawgHunter Guide Service to help you catch peacock bass or Fly & Fish with Fraser to give you a twilight fishing experience so you can spend your days sunning yourself on the beach. Down in the Florida Keys, we’re partnered with Flying Fish Charters and Silver King Charters. Over in Everglades National Park, hit up Backcountry Fishing Charters or Everglades Guide Services. Moving over to the Gulf Coast, the Tampa/Sarasota area is loaded with Fisher Guiding partners like Gulf to Bay Fishing ChartersCaptain John O’Hanlon’s Fishing Expedition,  Tide Flies Fishing Charters, and Skiff Charters, all looking to get you into some fish in the beautiful waters of Tampa Bay. The options in Florida are endless!

Maybe hopping a plane to a warm destination isn't in the books for you this year. Load up your car or hitch a ride with a buddy to tackle some winter steelhead with Dirty Bill’s Guide Service in Upstate New York or Dax Messeton the Olympic Peninsula. Ice fishing is more of your thing? Fish Nerds Guide Service in New Hampshire has you covered. And for an epic fish tale to tell upon your return home, Pyramid Fly Co. in Nevada will hook you up with some absolute monster cutthroat trout. Just make sure to pack your long Johns and heavy duty wool socks -- you’re gonna need them!
